The Tampa Rundown – University of Tampa Athletics
ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, over the weekend, both the men’s and women’s cross country team took home first place at the Valdosta State Border Clash. Volleyball, ended the weekend 3-1, closing out the tournament by defeating the No. 4 Ferris State Bulldogs. Due to the team’s 7-1 start to the 2018 season, they have snagged the No. 20 spot in the most recent AVCA Division II Coaches Poll. Women’s soccer tied West Alabama before going on to defeat No. 18 Mississippi College by a final score of 3-1. All three of Tampa’s goals in this game came from freshman Moeko Morse. Due to her stellar performance on the field, Morse was selected as the Sunshine State Conference women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Finally, men’s soccer tied in their game against West Florida and then were defeated by the Spring Hill College Badgers 2-1.
This Week’s Events:
Cross Country:
Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the Florida Tech Invitational in on Saturday, September 8th beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Men’s Soccer:
Thursday, men’s soccer will travel to Morrow, Georgia to take on North Georgia at 5:00 p.m. The men will then continue to Clayton State for a 7:00 p.m. game on Saturday.
Women’s Soccer:
Women’s soccer hosts their home opener on Friday at 7:00 p.m. against the Queens Royals. Then on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. they welcome the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears. Both games will be held at Pepin Stadium so be sure to come out and support the Spartans in their first home showcase of the 2018 season.
Volleyball:
This weekend, volleyball begins conference play with a 7:00 p.m. match against the Florida Tech Panthers on Friday. Then on Saturday, the squad will travel to Daytona Beach, Florida for a 4:00 p.m. game against the Embry-Riddle Eagles.
