ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, last week women’s volleyball wrapped their 2018 regular season as SSC Co-Champions. In their final weekend of conference competition, the Spartans defeated the Saint Leo Lions 3-1, before falling to conference rival, Florida Southern in a similar manner. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams kicked off their 2018-19 seasons. Both teams went 2-0. The men defeated Montevallo 63-61 and Alabama-Huntsville 63-56 on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The women’s team took down LeMoyne-Owen 58-43 on Friday night before going on to annihilate Claflin by a final score of 83-65 on Saturday. Finally, the rowing team also kicked off their 2018-19 season at the Head of the South. The Spartans entered two boats that finished fourth and sixth.
This Week’s Events:
Men’s Basketball:
Men’s basketball will compete in the Saint Leo Crossover Classic on Friday and Saturday. Friday UT will face West Florida for a 5:00 p.m. start, then on Saturday, the Spartans will take on the Auburn-Montgomery Warhawks at 2:00 p.m.
Men’s and Women’s Cross Country:
Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams will run at the NCAA South Regional on Friday, November 16th. Florida Southern is hosting the regional and the race will take place at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Fla.
Men’s and Women’s Swimming:
Tampa swimming welcomes the Saint Leo Lions this weekend. Races will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Volleyball:
The 15-17ththe women’s volleyball team will travel to West Palm Beach, Florida to compete in the NCAA South Regional hosted by PBA. Announced by the NCAA on Sunday night, the Spartans earned the No. 3 seed and will compete against the No. 6 seed Saint Leo University. The match will take place Thursday, November 15, with the time TBA.
Women’s Basketball:
On Sunday, November 18, the Spartans will host Puerto Rico-Mayaguez for a 5:00 p.m. start.
