Tampa Defeated in Overtime by Bucs
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men’s soccer team stumbled in extra time against Barry University on Saturday night. The Spartans are winless in five overtime matches following the 4-3 defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | In a hectic first half, Jake Richards logged three of his seven saves. Barry got on the board first as Luca De biase slotted one past Richards in the 19th minute. Till Neumann was ejected from the game following a red card in the 28th minute. At the same point, Barry’s Lorenzo Cerrai received a yellow card.
2nd Half | Tampa scored immediately out of the half as Marcel Salokat threaded a ball into the box and Julius Becker buried a shot into the upper right corner to even the match at one. James Kirkham took the lead for Barry about a minute later. Salokat was given a penalty kick following a hand ball in the box, and he cashed in his third goal of the season to notch things up at two apiece. Juancho Fernandez tallied his third goal of the season to give UT a 3-2 lead in the 89th minute. Less than 20 seconds later, Flavio Colasanti registered his seventh goal of the year to send the match to overtime. Colasanti’s seven goals is tied for third in the SSC. Barry was charged with three yellow cards in the half, compared to Tampa’s two yellow cards given to Salokat and Adrian Bush.
Extra Time | In the 97th minute, Francisco Greco scored his fourth goal on the year to win the match for Barry.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Richards tied a season-high in saves with seven, and has registered seven saves in back-to-back matches.
- Salokat laced a career-high five shots on the evening.
- This was the first red card for UT since October 2014, when they accumulated five red cards throughout the season.
