CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – University of Tampa senior standout Kiira Riihijarvi has receiver her fourth career All-American honor as the Women’s Golf Coaches Association has announced its 2019-20 WGCA All-American Teams for Division II Women’s Collegiate Golf. Freshman Hallie Riley was also mentioned as an honorable mention All-American.
Riihijarvi, a senior from Oulu, Finland is the most decorated golfer in program history. She ranks as the lone All-American in program history, doing so in each of her first three seasons at Tampa. The 2019 Sunshine State Conference Golfer of the Year has won 10 individual tournament championships in her career, the only Spartan to be a medalist. After qualifying for the 2017 and 2018 NCAA Tournament, she led the Spartans to the program’s first-ever team appearance at the 2019 NCAA South Super Regional. As an individual, she won the 2017 South Super Regional as a freshman, and she finished third as a sophomore, while advancing to the Division II Championships as a freshman and sophomore.
Riley, a freshman from Calvert City, Ky., played in seven events for the Spartans in her first collegiate season. She registered the most successful freshman season since Riihijarvi, averaging 75.78 while finishing in the top-five in three tournaments. She shot a season-low round of three-under-par (69) at the Lady Moc Classic, while her best three-round finish was 213 strokes (-3) at the Lady Moc Classic (02/17-18/2020) in a fifth-place overall finish.
