Women’s Lacrosse Named IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad
GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association has announced its 2018 IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads as well as its Academic Honor Roll. The University of Tampa was tabbed as one of the 65 NCAA Division II programs to earn the accolade while senior marketing major Shannon Sweeney, junior psychology major Sarah Bell, junior advertising and public relations/leadership studies major Abby Coccagna, and junior biology and business administration major Allie Popelar earned a spot on the honor roll, as announced by the association office.
In order to qualify for the Academic Honor Squad, the women’s lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, the student-athlete must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
The Spartans concluded their historic year in postseason play, earning their third consecutive bid into the Sunshine State Conference Championship Tournament. The team ended with an overall record of 12-6, No. 19 according to the final IWLCA Division II coaches poll.
