ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, last week men’s golf finished in the top ten at the McDonough Cup in Orlando, Florida. The women’s golf team took home second at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate in Jekyll Island, Georgia. The men’s basketball team kicked off their 2018-19 season with a scrimmage against the University of South Florida Bulls. UT lost to USF 80-52. Women’s tennis defeated St. Petersburg College 6-3. The No. 7 ranked volleyball team, hosted their last regular season home weekend where then split with the No. 23 Barry Buccaneers and the Lynn Fighting Knights. The Buccaneers defeated the Spartans 3-1 on Friday before the Spartans went on to sweep the Knights in celebration of their senior class Saturday. Finally, both the men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the SSC Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida. The men’s team finished fourth, while the women took home the Sunshine State Conference Championship title. This was the first SSC Championship since 2015 and the 14thin program history.
This Week’s Events:
Men’s Basketball:
Tampa Basketball kicks off their 2018-19 season this weekend with a pair of home games. The first, against the University of Montevallo Falcons on Saturday, November 10 at 3:00 p.m. The Spartans will then take the court against the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers on Sunday for a scheduled tip-off of 3:00 p.m.
Rowing:
On Saturday, the rowing team will kick off their 2018-19 season traveling to Augusta, Georgia to compete in the Head of the South Race.
Women’s Basketball:
Women’s basketball will also kick off their 2018-19 season with a pair of home games. First, Tampa will compete against LeMoyne-Owen on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The Spartans will then host the Panthers of Claflin University, Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
Volleyball:
Volleyball closes out conference competition this weekend with their final two road matches. On Friday, UT will compete against the Saint Leo Lions at 7:00 p.m. Tampa will then travel to Lakeland, Florida on Saturday, for a 4:00 p.m. matchup against SSC rival, Florida Southern.
