Tampa Women 5th, Men 18th in Newest National Poll

CLEVELAND – Coming off a pair of decisive season-opening wins, both University of Tampa swimming teams appear in the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll. The organization has released its first TYR Top 25 Dual Meet Swimming and Diving Poll of the 2018-19 season.
UT’s women are fifth in the nation, while the men are 18th nationally. Both teams opened on the road, with the men defeating Rollins 181-81 while the women came out on top with a score of 196-66.
The Queens men and women claimed the number one spot. On the women’s side, Drury, Nova Southeastern, UC San Diego, and Tampa round out the top five spots. On the men’s side Indianapolis, Drury, Delta State and Oklahoma Baptist complete the top five. In total, twenty-nine men’s and thirty-three women’s teams earned votes.
Tampa will match up with Nova Southeastern in its home opener on Saturday at 10 a.m., at the UT Aquatics Center. The Sharks men’s team is 12th while the women are third in the nation.
The poll aims to measure the top teams in head-to-head competition. The rankings are voted on by CSCAA-member coaches and the next polls are scheduled for release on November 14, January 9, January 30, and February 27.
