Tampa Swimming Earns Academic Recognition
NORFOLK, Va. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has named 710 teams to its Scholar All-America list for the Spring 2018 Semester. The University of Tampa placed both its men’s and women’s teams on the list of teams. The teams represent 476 institutions from across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA Divisions.
Tampa’s men registered a 3.21 GPA, while the women had a 3.36. The CSCAA recognizes teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Sioux Falls women and Adelphi Men led all Division II programs with GPAs of 3.80 and 3.64 respectively.
Among teams with a dozen or more student-athletes, on the women’s side Saint Francis (PA) led the nation with a 3.81 GPA. Grand Canyon University posted a 3.66 for the highest GPA among men’s programs with a dozen or more participants. It is the third time the Antelope men have led Division I Conn College’s women’s team (3.77) and Caltech’s men (3.63) led Division III programs with twelve or more participants.

On average, twenty-three of the top twenty-five top finishers in each of the NCAA Championships earned the award, with every NCAA title-winning team in all three divisions posting a GPA of 3.17 or higher.
