The University of Tampa has announced that Marc Cianci has joined the athletics department as its assistant director of compliance. He will join the compliance department, which is directed by assistant athletic director for business and compliance, Rob Fiedler.
He previously worked at fellow Sunshine State Conference school Embry-Riddle, where he worked from March 2016 to August 2018. In that position, he provided support in the areas of NCAA rules compliance, student-athlete academic support and academic eligibility.
When he arrived at Embry-Riddle, Cianci was already very familiar with the Sunshine State Conference as he spent the majority of his academic and professional career at two other SSC institutions. After working as a basketball team manager while doing his undergraduate studies at Saint Leo, and as an Event Management Assistant at the University of South Florida, Cianci moved to Fort Lauderdale and Nova Southeastern to pursue a graduate degree in Business Administration.
At Nova Southeastern, Cianci was the Graduate Assistant for Compliance. His responsibilities included preparing and distributing a variety of compliance media, conducting workshops of NCAA academic requirements, reviewing and tracking CARA logs for student-athletes and assisting with the NCAA II tracking system.
Cianci received a Bachelor’s degree in sport business with a minor in Psychology from Saint Leo University, and earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in sport revenue from Nova Southeastern in 2016.
