Sunshine Health Helps Blind Teens, Adults, and Seniors Achieve Improved Mental & Physical Health
Adjusting to vision loss isn’t easy but knowing that there are caring companies like Sunshine Health makes the future a little brighter for clients at the Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind.
NEW PORT RICHEY, FL–July 11, 2022. The Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind (LVIB) has received a generous Community Connections Investment Grant from Sunshine Health.
The Sunshine Health grant is being used to provide vision rehabilitation for teens, adults & seniors. With this training and support, clients develop the knowledge, skills, and safe behaviors needed to successfully compensate for vision loss and they have the ability to self-advocate for services and support when they feel their mental or physical health is at risk. This is in line with Sunshine Health’s goal to help Floridians in need by addressing housing, homelessness services, mental health, short-term financial needs, and food insecurity.
“We’re proud to support Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind,” said Nathan Landsbaum, Sunshine Health Plan President & CEO. “The work they do helps their clients become more empowered and self-sufficient, which makes our communities stronger and healthier.”
Sunshine Health also offers many programs and benefits to address the social determinants of health of its members, including access to telehealth 24-hours a day, a monthly stipend for over-the-counter wellness items and partnerships with more than 600 community groups. The Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind (LVIB) is so grateful to Sunshine Health for providing this grant and for all the good work they do in community. Sunshine Health is making a huge difference by supporting our clients with developing the hope, confidence, and independence needed for improved well-being now and in the future.” LVIB is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates in Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus. The mission of the LVIB is to educate, empower, and employ people who are visually impaired and blind.
