From the Safety of Your Own Home!!
Announcing the first St. Pete Second Saturday VIRTUAL ArtWalk! Grab your coffee, mimosa or beverage of choice and join us ONLINE on April 11th from 9am-9pm. Many of our ArtWalk studios/galleries celebrate the opening of brand new exhibitions during ArtWalk but because of the “Stay at Home” order due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is impossible to do.
Instead, many ArtWalk venues created virtual galleries and exhibits featuring ALL of their amazing art that is available for browsing and purchasing.
In this time of crisis our individual artists, art studios and art galleries are suffering by not being open due to the pandemic. Based on our survey results, we have:
· Estimated that the monthly direct loss by ArtWalk studios/galleries is $48,000.
· Add in the typical 2,000 resident attendees, who spend an additional $23.44* each on food and drinks, parking, etc. adds up to $46,880. (*Multiplier from Americans for the Arts Economic Prosperity Report V)
· This means that St. Pete’s Second Saturday ArtWalk’s now lost economic impact is $94,880 a month. Many who rely on ArtWalk sales need support.
Now is the time to support our Artists and Creative Businesses! Join us during this “ArtSit” to do what we can to support and nurture this industry. Discover wonderful surprises from your couch, desk or porch. Explore, post your purchases and shop while enjoying a local take out dinner and beverage and make an evening of it!
This Virtual ArtWalk is sponsored by the Courtyard by Marriott St. Petersburg which is now available for day-use space for those who are homebound working.
The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance coordinates the St. Petersburg Second Saturday ArtWalk with the EDGE District, the Grand Central District and the Warehouse Arts District associations.
ArtWalk is a St. Petersburg Arts Alliance economic strategy to develop small businesses. Shop local! Join us in advocating for the arts, facilitating the growth of our arts community and driving arts-related economic development in St. Petersburg.
