Spartans Win a Pair of Games in Eckerd Battle of the Bay

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The University of Tampa’s beach volleyball team competed in day one of the Battle of the Bay hosted by Eckerd College. The Spartans would face Palm Beach Atlantic and Eckerd College in the first day of competition. Tampa would take two wins to move the Spartans to 7-3 on the year, which is the best start over the first 10 games in program history.
Dual 1
The Spartans would take the first match against the PBA Sailfish by a final score of 4-1. The Sailfish entered the game with an undefeated record on the line but the Tampa lineup was able to spoil PBA’s win streak to begin the year. The only match the Spartans would drop would come in the two spot, as they won all of the other matches and the exhibition.

The Spartans improved their season record to 7-3 in the second match of the day as they swept the Tritons of Eckerd College. Four of the five matches were won in two sets, and Claire Overton and Selina Pfuner would overcome dropping the first set in the five spot.
