Spartans Hunting Sharks in SSC Opener
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa women’s soccer team kicks off their conference schedule on Saturday as they host Nova Southeastern at 7 p.m. in Tampa, Fla. The two programs have met in the conference opener in three of the last four seasons.
The Match: University of Tampa Spartans (1-2-2) vs. Nova Southeastern University Sharks (3-3)

Last Time Out: UT fell to No. 22 Georgia College 2-0 despite out-shooting the Bobcats. Moeko Morse and Emily Cady led the team with three shots, while three Spartans played the entire match. The last time UT played at Pepin Stadium, they drew Lenoir-Rhyne 1-1 on September 9.
About the Spartans: Last season, Tampa logged a conference record of 4-5-1, however reached the SSC tournament finals. The Spartans are building off the late season push, having upset No. 18 Mississippi College on September 2. Morse leads the team with six points and three goals, via hat trick in the upset over No. 18 MC. Cady has the most shots with 15, and leads the way with ten shots on goal. Megan Bromwell has accumulated 22 saves in five appearances.
About the Sharks: Nova Southeastern fell against No. 10 Barry 2-1 on Wednesday in a rare non-conference matchup. Adanna Edwards scored for Nova, tallying her third goal of the season. Goalkeeper Shannon Hearty racked up a career-high seven saves against the Buccaneers. The Sharks have seen good competition early on this season, as they lost 3-1 to No. 5 Columbus State on September 7. Nova Southeastern in 0-3 in matches that the opponent has scored first.
All-time Series: Tampa leads the series 16-5-3. Last season, the teams spilt two meetings however UT took down the top-seeded Sharks, 3-0, in the SSC tournament. It was only the second time Nova Southeastern had been shutout all season. Ali Robinson, Lacy Nasello, and Erika Peitersen registered goals in the conference upset.
Tickets: General Admission ticket prices for all Tampa regular season athletic events are $5. Youth (ages 12 and under) are admitted free of charge. Students and faculty/staff are admitted free with a valid UT ID.
