Home Helpers Clearwater pays it forward at the pump, free gas for its healthcare workers

On Friday, July 8, from 2-4 PM, Home Helpers Home Care of Clearwater recognizes its employees with a free fuel up at Speedway gas station, 38611 US 19 N in Tarpon Springs which has graciously donated the use of its pumps. Debbie Humphrey, Home Helpers president, has an island available at the station to thank her essential workers for their continued dedication and hard work through the pandemic and beyond. The station is even providing free large drinks to any employee who comes into the gas station store.
According to the app GasBuddy, the average cost of gas right now is $4.65 a gallon, which doesn’t consider the increase that occurs with a holiday weekend. With this in mind, Humphrey sought this unique way to show appreciation for its 50+ employees.
A healthcare organization in South Carolina recently did a hugely successful fuel celebration for its employees and after reading about it, Humphrey found her inspiration. The current gas crisis lent itself perfectly for Home Helpers Clearwater to give back to the men and women who drive daily to care for their patients using their own vehicles. Other Home Helpers locations will also be providing fuel-ups for their employees at different locations across Tampa Bay.
“I want to help out our employees that go out and take care of our vulnerable senior population. We need to ensure that they can get to work because of the cost of gas,” said Humphrey. “We’ll have a table and balloons; a big tadoo. They should be able to come through pretty quickly, get their car filled up, and be on their way. We thought this was a way to give back and show our caregivers that we appreciate them.”
