Venice, Florida – June 28, 2022 — Family Promise of South Sarasota County (FPSSC) today announced it received a very charitable $25,000 grant from Charities Aid Foundation America as recommended by Truist Financial Corporation for the Pathways Home Program.
According to Jennifer Fagenbaum, Executive Director of Family Promise of South Sarasota County, “Truist’s ongoing support of Family Promise of South Sarasota County’s mission to provide housing support to children and their families is very appreciated. As rental costs continue to increase, and the amount of affordable housing continues to decrease, more families are financially burdened. Family Promise of South Sarasota County’s Pathway Homes Program is just one of many ways we can continue to support local families on their road to financial stability and self-sufficiency.”
Truist’s grant funds will be used toward the purchase of Parkside Cottages so that FPSSC can build capacity and welcome client families into safe, affordable homes. During the 1-2 years that a family is in the Pathways Home program, they will receive ongoing comprehensive case management services (which will include financial and life skills education) that ensure that the family is able to remove the barrier(s) that prevented it from otherwise obtaining a rental agreement and affording current market rates. While client families are safely housed, they will have the capacity to do the work needed to acquire a lease and afford market rental rates or to purchase a home. FPSSC thoroughly assesses client families’ 2-generational needs and provides appropriate wraparound support services specific to each family member’s needs. The agency recognizes that this approach is crucial to permanent housing success and financial stability. Such support services may include, but are not limited to, access to food, healthcare, jobs, counseling, and education (including financial literacy education). The extent of service needed to achieve permanent housing and financial self-sufficiency varies from family to family, dependent upon each family’s individual needs, and inclusive of expansive 2-generational services.
