Wright-Ponder Earns SSC Player of the Week Honors

MELBOURNE, Fla. – University of Tampa’s LaShayla Wright-Ponder has been named Sunshine State Conference player of the week.
The Junior from Bloomington, Minnesota had a career game, as she scored 32 points in an overtime victory over Saint Leo. Wright-Ponder‘s 32 points came off a 13-for-17 (76%) performance from the field. The 32 points are fourth most in program history and the most since 2011. The 13 made baskets are also the second most in school history. The 32 points against the Lions ranks first among single-game performances in conference play this season.
Wright-Ponder and the rest of the Spartans will be back in action on Thursday as they play Pittsburg St. in the Florida Tech Holiday Classic.
