Women’s Lacrosse Remains No. 6 in IWLCA Coaches Poll

TAMPA, Fla. – In the IWLCA Division II Coaches poll announced on Monday, April 22, the University of Tampa women’s lacrosse program remains No. 6. Tampa earns this rank for the second week in a row after defeating the then No. 22 Saint Leo Lions, 19-13, and the Embry-Riddle Eagles by a final score of 20-8. On Thursday, UT will travel to Rollins College for the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament. The game Thursday is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m., at the Barker Family Stadium at Cahall-Sandspur Field. Should the Spartans win, they will advance to the SSC Championship game on Sunday, April 28th hosted by the highest remaining seed.
Le Moyne College (15-0) continued to dominate the IWLCA Division II Coaches Poll, racking up all 25 first-place votes again this week. Adelphi (14-1), Rollins (14-1), Regis (15-0), and Florida Southern (15-2) all held their rankings in the top five this week. Tampa (12-3), West Chester (13-2) stayed put at six and seven, while LIU Post (12-3) and Lindenwood (14-1) switched places at the eighth and ninth position. Queens (15-2) held at number ten to complete this week’s top ten. Mercyhurst (10-5) is the only new entrant to the poll this week, as they return locked in a tie with Mount Olive (12-5) at twenty-three.
This week’sTop-25 action starts off with a bang on Wednesday, including the game we’ve all been waiting for – #2 Adelphi at top-ranked Le Moyne with the NE-10 regular season title on the line – as well as #19 New York Tech at #13 Mercy, and #20 Bentley at New Haven (#16). The weekend’s action features #21 Merrimack at #18 Assumption, and #7 West Chester at Indiana of Pennsylvania (RV).
