NEWBERRY, S.C. – The sixth ranked University of Tampa women’s lacrosse team played their first road contest of the season as they competed against the Newberry College Wolves. The Spartan offensive was firing on all cylinders as they claimed a 19-5 victory.

How It Happened:

First Half:

· Tampa started off quick, scoring just 26 seconds into the game as Kristyn Staley gave the Spartans an early lead.

· UT would also score the next two goals to go up 3-0 early.

· The Wolves scored the following two of three goals to make the game 4-2 with 22:13 remaining in the half.

· The Spartans would score the next three goals to push the lead up to 7-2.

· After the Wolves scored to make the game 7-3, the Spartans would end the half on a 5-0 to head into the break with a 12-3 lead.

Second Half:

· The second half started much like the first, as UT would score the first three goals of the frame.

· The Tampa defense was stout; they would only allow two goals in the final period as the teams played with a running clock.

· Bridget Sutter picked up five saves in the half.

Inside the Stats:

· Claire Swanson would lead the way for Tampa as the senior collected five goals in the victory.

· Hannah Bush would pick up a hat trick as she scored three goals.

· Sutter had a total of eight saves, as she earned her second win of the year.

· UT outshot NC 29-16, with 26 of Tampa’s shot coming on goal.

Up Next: The Spartans will continue their road trip as they head to Hickory, North Carolina to take on Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday. That game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
