Women Are Living Breast-less in America

My Hope Chest, Making Women Whole Again

SEMINOLE, Fla. (October 29, 2019) – My Hope Chest, America’s only national charity helping breast cancer survivors attain breast reconstruction surgery, when insurance is not available, thanks sponsors for partnerships:

A portion of October sales of Paris Hilton’s Skincare line, ProD.N.A. benefit My Hope Chest and other charities fighting breast cancer.

Ed Morse West Coast (Florida) Automotive Dealerships are wrapping up their 7th year of the Drive for Hope campaign, donating dollars for every vehicle sold in the month of October, generating more than $100,000 to help women who have had a mastectomy and lacked the funds to rebuild their bodies.

Numerous fundraisers hosted by generous businesses are held any time of the year, bringing attention to what is needed beyond the cure for breast cancer.  If you are interested in hosting an event in your community, reach out via the website or Facebook.

“In 2019, the conversation around breast cancer should be focused well beyond pink ribbons and walks. It should be ensuring the quality of life for survivors,” says My Hope Chest founder and former Las Vegas showgirl, Alisa Savoretti. “We all hope to find a cure for breast cancer, but there is a huge population of underserved survivors living with physical and emotional scars that are a constant reminder of the disease. My Hope Chest’s core mission has always been focused on helping breast cancers survivors become whole again. Women who, like myself 16 years ago, desire, but cannot afford breast reconstruction surgery. We provide a complicated and expensive service that brings closure in body, mind and spirit from their cancer journey.”

While 1 in 8 women are still diagnosed with breast cancer each year, currently there are approximately 226,000 women that will survivethe disease this year, according to the American Cancer Society. Within the number of survivors, some women will want to start their breast reconstruction surgery, some won’t. Some survivors will be insured and able to do so, some won’t.  Therein lies the issue and how My Hope Chest is making dreams come true.

My Hope Chest also funds large insurance deductibles of $6,000 to $7,000 and provides medical and non-medical bill and co-pay assistance. The charitable organization believes with decades of survivors, the number of women that may have given up hope of attaining breast reconstruction and feeling whole, could be in the millions.

A survey to find out was launched this week on the website. Inviting breast cancer survivors to complete the survey, My Hope Chest will shed light on that number and help the organization raise more funds for reconstruction and making women whole again who desire this surgery.

The choice of life over limb and a mastectomy is not an easy one, but every woman who desires should have the opportunity to attain their surgery – insured or not.  My Hope Chest is a national non-profit organization that provides breast reconstruction for uninsured and underprivileged breast cancer survivors. Their mission focuses on the Celebration of Life and closure from the disease in body, mind, and spirit.
