Vaccaro and Sutter Earn SSC Player of the Week Honors

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The University of Tampa women’s lacrosse team UPSET the No. 11 Limestone College Saints by a final score of 20-11, before downing the North Greenville University Crusaders 14-6. Due to their outstanding performance on the field, junior Carly Vaccaro earned Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate, Bridget Sutter, earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Vaccaro earns Offensive Player of the Week honors for her performance in Tampa’s wins over No. 11 Limestone College (20-11) and North Greenville University (14-6). The Mooresville, North Carolina native tallied seven points on three goals and four assists against the Saints and six points from six goals against the Crusaders. The junior added one ground ball and two caused turnovers across the two victories.
Sutter was selected as Defensive Player of the Week following her efforts in goal during the Tampa’s wins over No. 11 Limestone College (20-11) and North Greenville University (14-6). The Evergreen, Colorado product registered 12 saves on 23 shot attempts against Limestone and 13 saves on 19 shot attempts against North Greenville. Sutter picked up six ground balls and helped the Spartans to 33-36 in clearing attempts.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of February 18 – 24, 2019. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
