UT Blanked By Montevallo – University of Tampa Athletics
COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of Tampa women’s soccer team suffered a shutout loss in the final match of the Columbus State Invitational.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Montevallo 3, Tampa 0
Records: University of Tampa Spartans (04) vs. University of Montevallo Falcons (1-1-2)
Location: Walden Soccer Complex || Columbus, Ga.
All-time Series: This is the first victory for the Falcons in the all-time series as the Spartans now have a 3-1 series edge.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | The Falcons opened the scoring just over a minute into the match as Kira Bochard netted the eventual game-winner from teammate Hannah Waki. Montevallo would double its lead in the 29th minute with a successful penalty kick from Kaeri Ward. || UM, 2-0
2nd Half | The second-half remained scoreless through the first 35 minutes until the Falcons added insurance with a score with just under 10 minutes to play from Melanie Stevens. || UM, 3-0
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Goalkeeper Megan Bromwell faced seven shots . with four saves.
- Shots were 15-14 in favor of Montevallo as the Falcons had seven on target. UT had six shots on goal that were turned away from UM keeper Annie Mason.
- Moeko Morse had a team-high four shots for the Spartans.
- Jalyssa Richardson and Lisa Caprara added a pair of shots with both being on target for the Spartan duo.
