CONFERENCE ON WORLD AFFAIRS
The acclaimed St. Petersburg Conference on World Affairs returns to USF St. Petersburg. Now in its eight year, the conference brings together diplomatic, military, media and academic experts – along with thousands of citizens – to discuss the dizzying array of international issues impacting the world, with more than 30 panels in all. The keynote speaker is Carol Bellamy, chair of the governing board for the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund. The closing speaker is Gen. John Nicholson, the longest-serving commander of the Afghan War. 
The Conference is free and open to the public, but you must register for tickets in advance.

THE EMOTIONS OF CLIMATE CHANGE 
The emotional work of caring about climate change is the topic of the next community climate change education speaker series put on by the Initiative on Coastal Adaptation and Resilience. Dr. Cheryl Hall with USF Tampa will discuss how to encourage political action on climate change by cultivating the emotional resources to sustain consistent cultural attention on the issue.

FLEEING THE NAZIS
Award-winning novelist Julie Orringer will discuss her new book, “The Flight Portfolio,” which tells the tale of one young American’s quest to save the lives of artists and writers fleeing the Nazis after the invasion of France. Based on a true story, the novel chronicles the character Varian Fry and a group of like-minded New Yorkers who form the Emergency Rescue Committee to help threatened artists and writers emigrate to the States. 
The talk is part of the Debbie and Brent Sembler/Florida Holocaust Museum author lecture series.

JOB & INTERNSHIP FAIR 
USF St. Petesburg’s annual Job & Internship Fair provides the opportunity for all USF students and alumni to engage with employers and recruiters for potential job and internship experiences. Some of the employers at this year’s fair include BayCare Health System, Macy’s Inc., MIDFLORIDA Credit Union, Pinellas County Government, Tech Data and a whole lot more.Thursday, February 1310:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.University Student Center Ballrooms
LEARNING ACROSS THE BAY 
Our 5th annual Bay to Bay Symposiumwill be a day of conversations centered on civic and community engagement across the curriculum. It will feature two distinguished speakers – Drs. George Mehaffey and Ashley Finley. The event also includes panel conversations with students, faculty and community partners.

RECITING GREAT POETRY 
Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation competition for high school students. The competition provides students an opportunity to read and recite great poems while enhancing their public speaking and presentation skills. The winner of the state finals is awarded $500 and given an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete in the Poetry Out Loud National Finals.
Poetry Out Loud is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and Florida Humanities is the state organizer.
Saturday, February 29University Student Center Ballrooms 1 & 2 
MOVING TO ZERO WASTE 
The Beyond Waste Summit brings together students to understand the systemic impact of waste, from extraction to disposal. These full-day leadership intensive workshops welcome students from all levels of experience and interest to equip them to become the next generation of leaders in the zero waste movement. USF St. Petersburg was chosen to host the south coast regional summit.
