Two Spartans Earn 2018 AVCA Division II All-America Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. (November 27, 2018) – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the 37th annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division II women’s volleyball. Katie McKiel earns the Spartans 31st AVCA First-Team certificate, while fellow classman Sorrel Houghton earns Second-Team honors.
Exactly 12 of the athletes honored on the AVCA All-America teams in 2018 have received the award multiple times. Headlining this year’s selections is Southwest Minnesota State Outside Hitter Taylor Reiss. She is the lone recipient in this class to garner AVCA All-American honors three times.
The 2018 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division II All-America Committee: Flip Piontek (chairperson), Chris Herron (Central Region), Karrin Moore (East Region), Wick Colchagoff (Midwest Region), Jenn King (South Region), Chuck Waddington (South Central), Heather Vahjen (Southeast), Chris Green (West Region).
