Two Men’s Lacrosse Players Earn SSC Weekly Honors
MELBOURNE, Fla. – University of Tampa men’s lacrosse program had two athletes earn Sunshine State Conference player of the week honors after their performance against the Westminster College Griffins. The Spartans defeated the Griffins by a final score of 17-11.
Andrew Kew takes Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in Tampa’s 17-11 win over Westminster College. During the game, the Ontario native tallied seven goals and five assists. Kew took 16 shots, landed nine on goal, and picked up two ground balls in the victory. This is Kew‘s second weekly award this year, and seventh all-time.
Ross Dickerson earns Specialist of the Week honors for his performance at the faceoff X in Tampa’s 17-11 win over Westminster College. The Berlin, Maryland native won 19-of-25 faceoffs (76.0%), picked up 13 ground balls, and had one assist against the Griffins. On the season, Dickerson is 158-212 in faceoffs and sits sixth in NCAA Division II in faceoff winning percentage (0.743). This is Dickerson’s third weekly award this season and sixth all-time.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of March 11 – 17, 2019. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
