(TAMPA, Fla. 1/21/20) – The Hillsborough Community College Foundation is delighted to announce the official completion of the HCC Rising Campaign on December 31, 2019. HCC Rising: Together We Lift Our Community was the first comprehensive, collegewide fundraising campaign in HCC’s history. Dr. Ken Atwater, HCC’s President, revealed the total of $9,221,868.94, the largest amount raised by the HCC Foundation, tripling the Foundation’s initial goal. “We are grateful that so many in the community made this investment in HCC and the education that we provide. This campaign will have a life-altering impact on our students–60% of whom receive some form of financial aid–and will affect generations of our students to come.”
Foundation Executive Director Stephen Shear stated, “This was a great success for the College and the Foundation. Through HCC Rising, we have been able to expand our donor base, tell the college’s story to our community, and create a culture of philanthropy at HCC and for HCC.”
Proceeds from HCC Rising will go to fund scholarships, specifically increasing the Foundation’s Endowment. Donations will also provide program support across the college, including at the new Drs. Kiran and Pallavi Patel Allied Health Building on HCC’s Dale Mabry Campus and the healthcare services education programs that are housed within it. The Drs. Patel made the largest individual gift ever to HCC when they pledged $1M to HCC Rising in 2018.
