Third Swimmer of the Week Honor Presented to Brett Saunders

MELBOURNE, Fla. – For the third time of the 2019-20 season, University of Tampa senior Brett Saunders was named the Sunshine State Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week.
Saunders led the way for Tampa with six first-place finishes in pair of weekend road victories against Florida Tech and Keiser University. Against the Panthers, Saunders opened the meet as part of a first-place 400 Medley Relay finish with a time of 3:27.24. The Newark, Delaware native also took the 200 Free in 1:42.81 and the 200 Breast with a time of 2:06.49. He returned to the pool the following day as part of a winning 200 Medley Relay of 1:32.83. Saunders proceeded to win the 400 IM after being clocked at 4:01.73 and the 100 Breast in 56.40. The weekly award is the fourth of his career.
Athletes of the Week are chosen from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of January 6 – 12, 2020. Athletes are nominated by Sports Information Directors of member institutions.
