The Tampa Rundown – University of Tampa Athletics
ICYMI- In case you missed it, men’s and women’s soccer, along with volleyball were all in action this past week. Men’s and women’s cross country also had a race this past weekend.
Volleyball had three home games this week as they welcomed in Florida Southern, Nova Southeastern, and Lynn. The Spartans were perfect on the week as they defeated Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern in three straight sets. In the final game of the weekend, the Spartans fell into a 2-0 hole to Lynn, before using a comeback to win in five sets. Katie McKiel led the way for the Spartans as she was named Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Women’s soccer had one game as they welcomed in Palm Beach Atlantic into Pepin Stadium. The Spartans were able to pull out a victory over the Sailfish, winning 1-0. Ashley Loeza scored the lone UT goal, as she netted a pass from Moeka Morse, in the 61st minute of the game.
Men’s soccer hit the road to West Palm Beach, as they faced off against the 25th ranked Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish. PBA used a goal in each half to earn a 2-0 victory over UT.
The women’s cross country B team participated in the USF Invitational hosted by the University of South Florida. As a team, the Spartans finished second overall, with Madison Mimnaugh leading the way for Tampa as she finished sixth overall.
This Week
Men’s Soccer- The men’s team will have two games this week, one at home and one on the road. On Wednesday, the Spartans will travel to Lakeland to face the Florida Southern Moccasins. On Saturday, Nova Southeastern will come into Pepin Stadium. Wednesday’s game is set for 7:00 p.m. and Saturday’s game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Women’s Soccer – The Spartans will host the FSC Mocs on Wednesday and then they will travel to Fort Lauderdale to face off against the NSU Sharks. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
Volleyball – The Spartans will have two road games this upcoming weekend. On Friday, Tampa will travel to Melbourne as they face off against the Florida Tech Panthers. On Saturday, the Spartans will be in Daytona Beach, facing off against first-place Embry-Riddle
Cross Country – Both cross country teams will be back in Tallahassee racing in the Florida State invitational. The race is set for Friday morning at 8:00 a.m.
Men’s Golf – Today and tomorrow the men’s golf team is participating at the Golfweek Fall Invitational. Rounds one and two are today and the final round is set for tomorrow.
Women’s Golf – The women’s golf team is in Fort Lauderdale, as they are participating in the Nova Southeastern Invitational. Rounds one and two are today, and the final round is scheduled for tomorrow.
