ICYMI- In case you missed it, men’s and women’s soccer, along with volleyball were all in action this past week. Men’s and women’s cross country also had a race this past weekend.
Men’s soccer played two home conference games this week as they hosted Eckerd College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. The Spartans fell to the Eckerd Triton 2-1, Mike Schessl scored the lone goal for UT. Against ERAU, the UT offense exploded for five goals. Rojay Smith scored two goals in the game, while Schessl, Travis Foster, and Amgad Salah each scored a goal for Tampa.
Women’s soccer hit the road for two conference games. The Spartans blanked the Tritons, winning 2-0 and then fell to Embry-Riddle 2-1. In the game against Eckerd, Ashley Loeza and Libby Wissman scored for Tampa. Megan Bromwell earned the win, as she recorded two saves in the shutout victory. Against Embry-Riddle, Lisa Caprara scored the lone Tampa goal.
Volleyball was on the road, as they headed to South Florida to face off against #25 Barry and Palm Beach Atlantic. The Spartans fell 3-2 to Barry, in front of a hostile crowd. Kamari Potter had a career-game, as she had a career-high 11 kills and hit at a .500 percentage. Against Palm Beach Atlantic, Tampa swept the Sailfish 3-0. Sarah Luoma led the way for UT as she recorded 10 kills and hit at a .562 percentage. Melissa Elias recorded a double-double in both games during the road trip.
Men’s and women’s cross country headed out west to Sacramento, California to race in Pre-Nationals. The Spartan women finished in 13th place out of 40 teams. Zoe Jarvis paced the women’s team, as she finished 28th overall. The men’s team finished 29th, as Trevor Kattenberg was the top Spartan finisher. Following her strong performance, Jarvis was named SSC Runner of the Week for the second time this season.
This Week
Men’s Soccer- The men’s team has one game this week, as they will hit the road to face Palm Beach Atlantic. Kickoff is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Women’s Soccer – The Spartans will return home as they welcome in Palm Beach Atlantic into Pepin Stadium. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Volleyball – The Spartans have a busy week as they will host three SSC games this week. On Tuesday, Florida Southern will come into the Martinez Center for a weekday matchup. Then over the weekend, Nova Southeastern and Lynn will face off against Tampa. The games against FSC and NSU are set for 7:00 p.m. and the game against LU will begin at 4:00 p.m.
Cross Country – Both cross country teams will be back in Tampa, as they will head to the University of South Florida for the USF Invitational.
