ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, over the weekend both the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams were crowned Sunshine State Conference Champions. The men won their sixth consecutive title after defeating the Saint Leo Lions in the championship, 13-10. Junior captain Ross Dickerson was named the Most Outstanding Player, while teammates Bryan Wright, Bryan Karn, Matt Vetter, and Andrew Kew all received all-tournament selections. The women earned the program’s first conference championship after upsetting the No. 3 Rollins College Tars in the semifinal, and downing SSC rival, No. 5 Florida Southern, 19-18 in overtime in the championship game. The winning goal came from junior Carly Vaccaro who was named the tournament Most Outstanding Player. Caroline Forester, Claire Swanson, Abby Coccagna, and Bridget Sutter were all named all-tournament selections. Also last week, the softball team defeated Saint Leo in their final regular season weekend series, 2-1. The Spartans await their post-season fate, after the NCAA releases one final regional ranking this Wednesday, May 1, while the Selection Show will take place on Monday, May 6th – live on NCAA.com. Both the men’s and women’s track team competed at the Tom Jones Invitational where on the men’s team, Dalton Morley, broke his own school record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.12. For the women, Julia Lockridge ran a personal best of 2:14.94 in the 800 meter. Rowing competed at the SSC Championships in Sarasota, Florida. The Spartans finished sixth overall, while athletes Sam Stewart and Sarah Manno were named all-conference selections. The UT tennis team ended their 2019 campaign at the SSC Tournament where they fell to No. 3 Saint Leo 4-2. The Spartans end their season 12-8 overall. Finally, the baseball team swept the Rollins College Tars in their weekend series.

This weekend, baseball will host their final home series against the Eckerd College Tritons. Friday’s game will begin at 6:00 p.m., with the doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. respectively.
