ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, last week the men’s golf team finished in the top ten at the Saint Leo Invitational. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams defeated Eckerd, 72-54 and 53-37 respectively. The beach volleyball team earn their first three wins of the season over University of Tennessee-Martin, Jacksonville University, and Eckerd. UT Baseball defeated the No. 20 Nova Southeastern Sharks in the weekend series 2-1. Finally, the men’s and women’s track team hosted the Tampa Invitational, where men’s 800 runner, Dalton Morley, broke the school record with a time of 1:51.71.
This Week’s Events:
Baseball:
Tomorrow, the No. 2 Spartans will host the Seton Hill Griffins for a 3:00 p.m. start. This weekend the team will travel to Albany, Georgia where the Spartans will take on the Albany State Golden Rams in the weekend series. Friday’s game will start at 6:00 p.m., Saturday the game will start at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday the Spartans will play at noon.
Beach Volleyball:
Beach Volleyball has another action-packed weekend as they are scheduled to compete in the Battle on the Bay hosted by Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. On Friday, the sandy Spartans will play the University of Tennessee-Martin and Webber International at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. respectively. Then on Saturday, UT will take on the University of North Florida at 10:00 a.m. and Florida Gulf Coast University at 3:00 p.m.
Men’s Basketball:
This week the men’s basketball team enters the Sunshine State Conference tournament. On Wednesday, UT will travel to No. 1 seed, Nova Southeastern, for the SSC Quarterfinals beginning at 7:30 p.m. Should the Spartans advance, they will play again in the semifinals on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. against the winner of the Eckerd vs. Barry quarterfinal. Both the semifinal games and the championship game will be held in Rick Case Arena in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The SSC Championship game is slated to begin at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday.
Men’s Golf:
Today the men’s golf team is entering the second round of the Panther Invitational where they currently sit in fourth place. The invitational is being held at Duran Golf Course in Viera, Fla.
Men’s Lacrosse:
The No. 19 Tampa Spartans will host the North Greenville University Crusaders in a midweek showdown, Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Then on Saturday, the Spartans will travel to St. Louis, Missouri where they will face the Lindenwood Lions at 1:00 p.m.
Softball:
The softball team will host a doubleheader tomorrow against Flagler College at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Then on Friday and Saturday, the Spartans will host SSC foe, Florida Tech. Friday’s game is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m., then on Saturday, the games will start at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Tennis:
The University of Tampa women’s tennis team has a home match almost every day this week. Today, the Spartans welcome the Eckerd Tritons for a 3:00 p.m. start. The Spartans will then host Valparaiso, Davis and Elkins, and Saginaw Valley on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday respectively. All of their matches throughout the week will also begin at 3:00 p.m.
Women’s Basketball:
This week the women’s basketball team enters the Sunshine State Conference tournament. On Wednesday, UT will host the Rollins College Tars in the SSC Quarterfinals. Should the Spartans advance, they will play again in the semifinals on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against the winner of the Eckerd vs. Lynn quarterfinal. Both the semifinal games and the championship game will be held in Rick Case Arena in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The SSC Championship game is slated to begin at 1:05 p.m.
Women’s Lacrosse:
The No. 11 Spartans will take on the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs Mountain Lions today at 5:00 p.m. (EST). The game will take place at Mountain Lion Stadium in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Spartans will then return home on Saturday for a noon contest against Seton Hill.
