ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, last week baseball, men’s lacrosse, softball, and tennis all kicked off their spring 2019 seasons. Baseball ended the weekend 1-2, with their win coming from the No. 1 North Greenville University Crusaders by a final score of 11-5. Softball defeated Ursuline in its home opener, a double-header on Sunday, 8-0, and 6-0 respectively. Additionally, the women’s basketball team defeated the Embry-Riddle Eagles in overtime, 68-62.
This Week’s Events:
Baseball:
This weekend, UT baseball will travel to Milledgeville, Georgia to take on the Georgia College Bobcats. The teams will battle Friday at 6:00 p.m., Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Men’s Basketball:
Men’s basketball heads to West Palm Beach on Wednesday for a mid-week showdown against the PBA Sailfish. This game is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Rubin Arena. The team will then return home to host Florida Tech, Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
Men’s Golf:
Today, the men’s golf team has begun the first two rounds of the Titan Winter Invitational at the Sun Tree Country Club in Melbourne, Florida. The tournament will close out tomorrow, February 5th.
Softball:
The softball team is set to compete in a pre-season tournament this weekend in Clearwater, Florida. On Friday, the Spartans will take on Indianapolis at 2:30 p.m. before going head-to-head with West Georgia at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, UT has a 2:30 p.m. game scheduled against West Chester, with a 6:30 p.m. meeting with Southern Arkansas. Finally, on Sunday, the Spartans are scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. game against the Valdosta State Blazers. All of the games this weekend will take place at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.
Women’s Basketball:
Before the men play Wednesday, the women will take the court at Rubin Arena at 5:30 p.m. against the Sailfish. Then on Saturday, the Spartans will host the Florida Tech Panthers for a 2:00 p.m. start.
Women’s Golf:
Today, the women’s golf team is competing in the final round of the Flagler World Invitational at the Slammer and Squire Golf Course in St. Augustine, Florida. After round one on Sunday, the Spartans currently sit in 7thplace.
Women’s Lacrosse:
The No. 19 Spartans are set to kick off their 2019 season against to No. 9 Rollins College Tars on Tuesday in Winter Park, Florida. The game is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Women’s Tennis:
Finally, the women’s tennis team welcomes Central Oklahoma on Saturday, February 9th, for a 1:00 p.m. match.
