The Rollins Tars Defeat the Tampa Spartans 18-10.

WINTER PARK, Fla. –In the battle of the Fives, the No. 5 University of Tampa women’s lacrosse team was defeated by the No. 5 Rollins College Tars by a final score 18-10.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: No. 5 Tampa Spartans 10, Rollins College Tars 18
Records: Tampa (9-3, SSC 2-1), Rollins College (12-1, SSC 3-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half
- The Rollins College Tars were the first team to score.
- Kristyn Staley answered with a goal for UT.
- Rollins then netted the next three, before Carly Vaccaro earned a goal for Tampa off the assist by Rachel Crawford.
- The Tars then scored again giving them the 5-2 lead.
- Vaccaro then netted her second goal of the contest, this time off the pass by Kayla Kosubinsky.
- Shortly after, Caroline Forester scored with the assist by Vaccaro.
- RC scored the last four goals of the first half.
- Heading into halftime, the Spartans trailed the Tars 9-4.
2nd Half
- In the first minute of the second half, Forester scored off the assist by Claire Swanson.
- Rollins scored two more before Staley earned her second goal of the contest.
- The Rollins offense continued to cause problems for the Spartans, scoring four more goals and giving them the 15-6 lead.
- Finally, Claire Swanson netted a goal for the Spartans.
- The Tars scored again, however, this time they were answered by Kosubinsky.
- Both teams scored two more goals in the contest. Tampa’s came from Staley and Lizzie Pierpont respectively. Pierpont was assisted by Kosubinsky.
- The Rollins College Tars defeated the University of Tampa Spartans by a final score of 18-10.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Kristyn Staley led all Spartans offensively with three goals.
- Carly Vaccaro and Caroline Forester also had two goals for UT.
- Claire Swanson and Danielle Waters led the Spartans defensively with three and two caused turnovers respectively.
- Swanson also recorded three draw controls, two ground balls, one goal and one assist.
- Bridget Sutter played the entire 60 for the Spartans. She faced 29 shots and recorded 11 saves on the night.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will host the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Saturday, April 13th. The game is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Naimoli Family Field. Be sure to get there early as the Spartans will be honoring their nine seniors.
