The Final Poll – University of Tampa Athletics
TAMPA, Fla. – In the final AVCA Division II coaches poll, as announced by the association office, the University of Tampa climbs to the top after winning the national title. The Spartans defeated the Western Washington Vikings 3-2 in the five-set thriller. Tampa receives the No. 1 spot for the first time since week 7 of 2015.
The Spartans end their 2018 season with an overall record of 33-4, and were 17-3 in the Sunshine State Conference. The team ends with the titles, National Champions, South Regional Champions, and Sunshine State Conference Co-Champions.
To close out the top five, national runner-up, Western Washington sits at No. 2. Washburn University takes the No. 3 spot, followed by Cal State San Bernardino at No. 4 and Minnesota Duluth at No. 5. Two other SSC teams remain in the poll, Palm Beach Atlantic sits at No. 13 and Barry University snags No. 19.
