Broadway stars perform a collection of classic songs along with doo-wop inspired renditions of popular contemporary hits. 

St. Petersburg, Fla. (Jan. 3, 2020) – Showcasing unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence, The Doo Wop Project recreates some of the greatest music in American pop and rock history. The group will perform at the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7:30p.m. 

Tickets range from $25-$55 and can be purchased online at www.themahaffey.com, by phone at (727) 300-2000, or at the Mahaffey Theater Box Office from 11:00a.m. – 5:00p.m., Monday through Saturday or at least 90 minutes prior to any ticketed event.

The Doo Wop Project begins at the beginning, tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. In their epic shows, they take audiences on a journey from foundational tunes of groups like the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and The Four Seasons all the way to DooWopified versions of modern musicians like Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Maroon 5.

Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts 

Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts supports performing arts programming at the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater. We provide arts education programs for youth, community outreach programs, and performances as well as concerts for the entire community with emphasis on diverse programming for youth, underserved audiences and families. Each year more than 20,000 school children are provided a field trip experience to learn Florida State curriculum through a live theater performance. This Class Acts Educational Performance series is in its 27^th season and serves students from six counties. Additionally, the Foundation ensures that funding is in place to continue providing diverse programming in the theater for the general public.
