February 26, 2020, • Thonotosassa, FL Each year, Terrace Community Middle School hosts a school-wide book symposium called “One School, One Book.” This year’s book is The Six by Mark Alpert, the futuristic tale of a teenager who has muscular dystrophy and uses virtual reality to escape the confines of his wheelchair—until an artificial intelligence program hacks into the game. Inspired by The Six, Terrace Community Middle School will engage in a day-long series of activities to promote awareness of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and debilitating illnesses and to recognize the contributions young people can make to their community, state, and nation. The symposium will be on February 28, 2020, at 11734 Jefferson Rd., Thonotosassa, FL, 33592. Featuring keynote speaker Mark Alpert, the day will also host a variety of speakers, including a representative of Cyber Florida who will lead students in the Ice Man Challenge, a card-based cybersecurity game about hunting hackers.
