Tampa Women Extend Commanding Lead Heading to Final Day of Spartan Invite

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The University of Tampa men’s and women’s swimming teams are on the eve of the final day at the Spartan Invite with its women in first and men second after day three of competition.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Men’s Day One Final: Indian River 778, Tampa 675.5, Florida Southern 492, Nova Southeastern 393.5, Saint Leo 369, Catawba 82
Women’s Day One Final: Tampa 991, Nova Southeastern 710, Indian River 529, Florida Southern 247, Saint Leo 193, Catawba 117

MEN’S TOP PERFORMERS:
- Placing third in the 100 Back was Luke Hene as he was done in 48.85.
WOMEN’S TOP PERFORMERS:
- Hana van Loock placed third overall in the 100 Back as her time was 56.76.
- Freshman Elizaveta Bazarova was second in the 100 Breast at 1:03.36 as she narrowly missed a new school record.
- Courtney Sherwood was first in the 200 Fly as she was clocked at 2:03.01.
- The Spartans captured first in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 7:30.55, winning by nearly 5-seconds. The quartet included Cat Sterlacci, van Loock, Maureen Moore and Bazarova.
UP NEXT:
Day four of the Spartan Invite will begin Tuesday with the prelims at 9:30 a.m. The finals are slated for 5 p.m. Fans may watch live at TampaSpartans.tv or follow live scoring through the Meet Mobile app.
