Tampa Tennis Wins Fourth Straight

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa tennis team finished out a perfect 4-0 week as it blanked visiting Saginaw Valley State University on Thursday.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Tampa Spartans 7, Saginaw Valley State Cardinals 0

All-time Series: Tampa now leads the all-time series 2-1 after previously defeating the Cardinals in 2011.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- UT took all three doubles contests along with each of the six singles events.
- The Cardinals, playing with just four players, forfeited the number three doubles match along with the five and six singles events.
- The number one doubles duo of Caroline Lozo and Dakota Busch prevailed 6-3.
- UT also scored a 7-5 win at three doubles from freshmen Nicoline Palmgren and Giulia Tatini.
- Vanina Iordanova took a 6-4, 7-6 victory at one singles.
- Corbin Dorsey won at two singles by scores of 6-0, 6-2.
- Tampa also had wins from Lilley Nice at three singles and Amanda Baxter at the four spot.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Stephens ranks fifth all-time with 37 career singles wins as she now needs two wins to match Jenelle Morgan for fourth.
- Lilley Nice is also in the top-10 with 32 career singles victories.
- Stephens is fourth in UT history with 38 doubles wins while Nice is seventh at 32.
UP NEXT:
The Spartans will travel to Hawaii for spring break, where they will meet Chaminade University on Monday at 5 p.m. UT will also face Holy Names on Friday in Oakland, Calif., prior to returning to UT.
