Tampa Tennis Takes Seventh Straight in Win Over New Haven

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa tennis team returned home and won its seventh straight match on Thursday afternoon.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

All-time Series: This was the first-ever meeting between the NCAA Division II opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- UT took two of three doubles contests along with all six singles events.
- The Spartans claimed the one and two doubles events, getting victories from the teams of Caroline Lozo and Dakota Bush and Corbin Dorsey and Maddie Stephens.
- Vanina Iordanova took the number one singles match by straight-set scores of 6-2, 6-2.
- Two singles player Corbin Dorsey took a 6-2, 6-2 win.
- Lilley Nice had a 6-0, 6-1 win at number three.
- The four singles event went to Maddie Stephens as the Spartan won by scores of 6-1, 6-3.
- A straight set blanking was issued by Caroline Lozo at five.
- Freshman Nicoline Palmgren took a 6-0, 6-0 win at six.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Stephens is now tied for fourth all-time with 39 career singles victories with Jenelle Morgan. Next on the list is Kelsey Matthews 45 wins.
- Lilley Nice is also in the top-10 with 35 career singles victories.
- Stephens is tied for third in UT history with 40 doubles wins while Nice is seventh at 33.
UP NEXT:
UT resumes Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday at Embry-Riddle. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
