Tampa Set to Return Home With Match Against Rollins

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa volleyball team returns home to the Martinez Center as they will welcome in the Rollins College Tars. UT is entering the matchup winners of their last 10 games.
The Matchup: University of Tampa Spartans (15-6, 8-2 SSC) vs. Eckerd College Tars (6-13, 1-7)
Date/Time: Thursday vs. Rollins at 7:00 p.m.

About the Spartans: Tampa is coming into the matchup as the top team in the conference holding an 8-2 record. After starting the year with a 5-6 record, UT has rallied off 10 consecutive victories. In the past week, the Spartans participated in the South Region Crossover, where they went 3-0 defeating West Georgia, Auburn-Montgomery, and Alabama-Huntsville. On Tuesday, Tampa defeated Saint Leo on the road after dropping the first two sets.
Junior Katie McKiel is leading the way for Tampa as the outside hitter has a total of 303 kills and is averaging 3.88 kills per set. This puts her at the top of the conference in both categories. She has also added 190 digs, which ranks second on the team.
Sorrel Houghton ranks second for the Spartans in kills, as the junior has tallied a total of 234 on the year. Kamari Potter ranks third on the team in kills as the middle blocker has accumulated 155 on the year. Potter also leads all Spartans with at least 100 total attacks with a .349 hitting percentage. Potter is also tied for the team lead with Mackenzie Dufresne with 49 total blocks.
Senior setter Sammy Mueller is leading the way for the Spartan offense as she has dished out 662 assists on the year. Senior libero Nicole Dominguez has recorded 304 digs on the season leading the way for the UT defense.
As a team, Tampa is hitting at a .246 percentage while holding their opponents to a .187 percentage.
About the Tars: Rollins enters the game with a 6-13 record and a 1-7 record in conference. RC will enter the matchup on a two-game winning streak as they won their final two games at the South Region Crossover against Shorter and West Alabama. Riley Spurlin is leading the Rollins attack as she has 174 kills on the year. Rachel Reeve leads the team with 535 assists and Charlie Durbin leads the team with 240 digs.
All-Time Series: Tampa leads the all-time series against Rollins 90-6, and they are currently on a three-match winning streak.
Tickets: General Admission ticket prices for all Tampa regular season athletic events are $5. Youth (ages 12 and under) are admitted free of charge. Students and faculty/staff are admitted free with a valid UT ID.
