ICYMI – In case you missed it, men’s and women’s basketball were in action over the Thanksgiving break.
Men’s Basketball participated in the Eckerd Thanksgiving Classic with a pair of games against Bemidji State and Francis Marion. In the first game against Bemidji State, the Spartans picked up their first win of the season, defeating the Beavers 60-49. Pat Bacon was the leading scorer for UT, as he put up 21 points. In the game against Francis Marion, Bacon again led the team in scoring, putting up 24 points. Martin Lakovic also had big games as he put up two double-doubles over the weekend. Against Bemidji State he had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and against Francis Marion he had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Women’s basketball traveled to Louisville, Kentucky where they played in the Bellarmine Thanksgiving Classic. In the opening match against Southern Indiana, the Spartans would fall 56-46. In the game against host Bellarmine, UT would drop the contest 76-63.
This Week:
Volleyball will travel down to Boca Raton as they face Alabama-Huntsville in the opening round of the NCAA South Regional. The game is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. If UT wins, they will play the winner of Barry and West Florida at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Men’s basketball will be back in SSC play as they travel back to St. Petersburg to take on the Eckerd Tritons. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 4:00 p.m. the men will be back home as they welcome in the Rollins College Tars.
Women’s basketball will play Eckerd on Wednesday in a road matchup set to begin at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Spartans will host the Tars at 2:00 p.m.
