Tampa Falls Short in NCAA South Region
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of Tampa softball team ended their season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the top-seed No. 2 West Florida. The Spartans finish the season at 34-13, and re-wrote the record books with their 19-game winning streak and 22 wins in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
BOT 8th: After back-to-back walks and two fielders’ choices, the Argonauts secured the victory with an RBI single up the middle by Jacquelynne Poling.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Dooley made her 34th start of the year, the senior went seven innings and allowed one un-earned run on four hits.
- The Spartans drew three hit-by-pitches, the eighth time UT drew multiple HBP’s.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- It was the third consecutive scoreless game heading into extra innings.
- In extra inning games, Tampa owns a 5-3 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
TOP 1st: To lead off the game, on the third pitch, Lexie Chevalier used an inside-out swing and went deep to right-center field to put UT on the board early on. It was the freshman’s fourth home run of the year.
BOT 7th: The Argonauts reached base on a throwing error to lead off the seventh inning and was followed up by a flare to right field. Corynn Miner came up throwing on a sacrifice fly and the runner avoided the tag at the plate. After a fielder’s choice and a strikeout, Grace Gilbert helped her own cause with a cue shot into shallow right field to win the game.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Dooley went a complete game for the 30th time in 35 starts; the right-hander struckout three and allowed only three hits.
- Corynn Miner went 2-for-3 at the plate, with a stand-up double. It was the eighth time this season she’s recorded multiple hits.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The lead-off home run was the first run scored in “regulation” during the NCAA Tournament for UT.
