Tampa Cross Country 23rd at Nationals Behind All-American Performance by Zoe Jarvis
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The University of Tampa women’s cross country team raced to a 23rd place finish at the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championships as Zoe Jarvis became the program’s first All-American since 2011.

- Jarvis was the top Spartan for the fifth time in 2019.
- Jarvis is the first UT All-American since Heather Nicolosi in 2011 and seventh in program history.
- Also running for Tampa were Cassie Highsmith (222nd) and Aspen Gordon (227th).
- The other South Region team was Lee University, who finished 14th overall.
- A total of 34 teams advanced to the national championships.
- This marks the best finish at nationals for head coach Jarrett Slaven‘s Spartans since placing 11th in 2011.
- This was the 14th time in program history, all under Slaven, that the Spartans have advanced to the championships.
- The Adams State women dominated the field with four of the top six finishers wearing green, tying the lowest score in DII women’s history — a record the Grizzles made in 1999.
- Grand Valley State, the 2018 winner, finished a large distance behind with 86 points. Colorado School of Mines finished third, earning its first podium spot in program history with 134 points.
- Adams State’s Stephanie Cotter did not let up one bit to win the individual title with a 19:15.5 finish, which was about 25 seconds faster than teammate Eilish Flanagan.
