Spartans Tennis Proves to be Too Much for Blazers

TAMPA, Fla. – The Univsersity of Tampa tennis team is victorious over Valdosta State University after 10 days of rest.

Team Records: The University of Tampa: 3-4 (0-3 SSC), Valdosta State University: 2-5 (1-0 GSC)
How it Happened:

Valdosta defeated Tampa in doubles 2-1. Both #1 and #3 doubles were defeated by the Blazers 6-3.

Number two double pairing Corbin Dorsey and Tatiana Harrelson won 6-1 over VSU’s Hera Bjork Brynjasdottir and Rachelle Starreveld. This is the first time Dorsey and Harrelson have played together. The result was Harrelson‘s first collegiate win.

Vanina Iordanova was the first singles player to finish her match winning 6-1, 6-0 over Bjork Brynjasdottir.

Lilley Nice made her first start in the third singles position and she produced. Nice defeated the Blazer’s Julia Saving 6-4, 6-2.

Corbin Dorsey won her match in #4 singles in clutch fashion to clinch the match for the Spartans. Tampa led 3-2 in overall score when Dorsey defeated Eva Rivoal 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (10-8).

The Spartans are undefeated against unranked opponents this season.
Up Next: Tampa takes on Georgia College tomorrow in a neutral site match (Valdosta, Ga.). This is the first ever match between Tampa and Georgia College. The GC Bobcats are 0-4 this season.
