Spartans Set to Host Final Home Games of Regular Season

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa volleyball team returns home to the Martinez Center as they will welcome in the Embry-Riddle Eagles and the Florida Tech Panthers. These two games will mark the final regular-season home games for the Spartans. Saturday also marks senior day for four UT athletes. Nicole Dominguez, Lauren Kotey, Sammy Mueller, and Brooklyn Wilson will all be honored before Saturday’s game against Florida Tech.
The Matchup: University of Tampa Spartans (20-8, 13-4 SSC) vs. Embry-Riddle Eagles (19-4, 12-4 SSC) | University of Tampa Spartans (20-8, 13-4 SSC) vs. Florida Tech Panthers (4-23, 1-15 SSC).
Date/Time: Friday vs. Embry-Riddle at 7:00 p.m. | Saturday vs. Florida Tech at 4:00 p.m.

About the Spartans: The Spartans will enter the games this weekend on a two-game losing streak as they fell to Lynn and Nova Southeastern last weekend. With two weeks left in the regular season, the Spartans are currently sitting in the number two spot in the NCAA South Region Rankings, behind Lynn.
Leading the Tampa offense is Colorado native Katie McKiel as the junior leads the team and the Sunshine State Conference with 394 total kills and 3.72 kills per set. McKiel is also second on the team with 258 digs on the season.
Sorrel Houghton and Kamari Potter are also playing a key role in the offense as Houghton is second on the team with 316 kills and Potter leads the team with a .374 hitting percentage. Potter is also leading the defense as she has a team-high 66 total blocks.
Senior Sammy Mueller leads the team with 875 assists on the year and senior Nicole Dominguez leads the team with 435 digs on the year.
As a team, UT is hitting at a .239 percentage while holding their opponents to a .191 percentage.
About the Eagles: Embry-Riddle is coming into the weekend winner of their past five of six games. ERAU is right behind Tampa in the regional rankings as they are sitting in the third spot. Jordan Schumacher is leading the offense for Embry-Riddle as she has a total of 293 kills on the year. Alyssa Rudd is serving as the catalyst for the offense as she is averaging 11.3 assist per set and a total of 1028 assist on the year, which ranks first and second respectively in the Sunshine State Conference.
About the Panthers: Florida Tech is entering the game on an eight-game losing streak. Audrey Keenan is leading the way for Tech as she has 263 kills on the season. Kyra Atkinson has 528 digs for the year and is averaging 5.87 digs per set. The 5.87 digs per set is first in the Sunshine State Conference.
All-Time Series: Tampa is 10-0 all-time against Embry-Riddle and 86-0 against Florida Tech. The Spartans have faced each team once already this season defeating the Eagles and the Panthers 3-1.
Tickets: General Admission ticket prices for all Tampa regular season athletic events are $5. Youth (ages 12 and under) are admitted free of charge. Students and faculty/staff are admitted free with a valid UT ID.
