Spartans Look to Tie the All-Time Series With the Mavericks
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men’s lacrosse team is set to host the Colorado Mesa Mavericks on Wednesday, March 20 at 8:00 p.m.

Last Time Out: The University of Tampa defeated the Westminster College Griffins by a final score of 17-11. In the contest, senior Andrew Kew had an outstanding game earning seven goals and five assists. Due to his impressive performance, he was named the SSC Offensive Player of the Week. Face-off specialist, Ross Dickerson, also played exceptionally well for the Spartans. Dickerson picked up SSC Specialist of the Week honors for winning 19 of the 25 face-offs he took from the x. Additionally, he led the team in groundballs with 13. Defensively in the contest, Sam Collingwood had a team high of three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Bryan Karn played the entire 60 in the cage for the Spartans. He faced 20 shots and saved nine of them.
About the Spartans: Tampa is currently 4-4 on the 2019 season, 0-0 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Spartans are led offensively by senior Andrew Kew. Kew has 36 points on the season made up of 19 goals and 17 assists. Fellow senior Matt Vetter is tied for second on the team in points with 24. He has 13 goals and 11 assists. Sophomore Colin White rounds out the top three point scorers for the Spartans also with 24 points. White leads the team in goals with 21 and has three assists. Defensively, Sam Collingwood has 12 caused turnovers on top of his 11 ground balls, while Luke Robideaux has six caused turnovers and 18 ground balls. Junior Ross Dickerson remains one of the best faceoff specialists in the nation. He currently has the fifth best face-off winning percentage in all Division II with 74.5%. Dickerson has won 158-212 face-offs from the X. Finally, at keeper, the Spartans have been using the combination of returning SSC Freshman of the Year, B.J. Borowski, and senior Bryan Karn. The two have recorded 87 saves on the season, 60 and 27 respectively.
About the Mavericks: The Mavericks are currently 3-3 and have not yet started RMAC competition. Most recently, the Mavericks fell to the Rollins College Tars by a final score of 10-5. CMU is led offensively by #4 Jack Griffin who has 21 points this season consisting of 14 goals and seven assists. Following Griffin’s offensive efforts are those of #21 Brandon Wilson and #1 Joe Wulforst IV who each have 10 points. Defensively, #77 Cole Smith leads all Mavericks with 12 caused turnovers and 11 groundballs. Michael Marino is the team’s primary face off specialist. Marino has won 64 of 127 from the X and has stated 29 ground balls. Finally, at keeper, the Spartans use both #12 Remi Reeves and #52 Christian Cheery. Reeves has 31 saves and a goals against average of 9.85, while Cheery has 32 saves and a goals against average of 9.14.
