TAMPA, Fla.. – The No. 2 University of Tampa Spartans slayed the Bentley Falcons with a 15 run showing Wednesday night.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Final: No. 2 Tampa Spartans 15, Bentley Falcons 1

All-time Series: Tampa is 21-2 all-time against Bentley. The Spartans are 9-1 in their last 10 games against the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

•  Yorvis Torrealba and Danny Blair scored to give the Spartans an early lead after one inning. | 2-0 Tampa
• Blair hit a two-RBI single in the bottom of the second, scoring Nick DeTringo and Torrealba. Blair would then score on an RBI single by Alec Aleywine. | 5-0 Tampa
• Torrealba hit a three-run shot into left field, scoring Cole Perry and Stevie Mangrum, to increase the Spartans’ lead in the bottom of the third. | 8-0 Tampa
• Luke Benoit hit a two-RBI double in his first collegiate At Bat to increase the Spartan lead. | 10-0 Tampa
• The Spartans tallied on five more runs in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by RBI doubles from Sam Freitas and Luis Medina. | 15-0 Tampa
• The Falcons got on the board in the top of the eighth. | 15-1 Tampa

INSIDE THE STATS:

• Torrealba batted two for three on the day, hitting a Home Run with three RBI’s and scoring three runs for the Spartans.
• Blair was one for three with two runs and two RBI’s for the Spartans.
• Spartan pitchers combined to throw 12 strikeouts while only allowing one run.

OUTSIDE THE BOX:

• Blair and Torrealba increased their hitting streaks to 11 and 10, respectively.
• Head coach Joe Urso now stands at 803 career wins.
• The Spartans now have a +108 Run Differential on the season.
