Spartans Climb Poll to No. 16

TAMPA, Fla. – After defeating both the Rollins College Tars and the Saint Leo Lions to win the SSC Championship, the Spartans find themselves at No. 16 in the latest USILA coaches poll, as announced by the association, Monday.
The University of Tampa Spartans defeated the Rollins College Tars 16-11 in the SSC Semifinal before taking down the Saint Leo Lions 13-10 in the Championship game. Junior captain Ross Dickerson was named the Most Outstanding Player, while teammates Bryan Wright, Bryan Karn, Matt Vetter
, and Andrew Kew
all received all-tournament selections.
Undefeated Limestone sits at the top of the poll with a perfect 17-0 record. The Saints are followed by Adelphi and Le Moyne at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively. To round out the top five, Indianapolis sits at No. 4 while Merrimack snags No. 5. The Sunshine State Conference is represented in the poll by the No. 16 Spartans, the No. 19 Lynn Fighting Knights and Saint Leo at No. 20. Additionally, Rollins and Florida Southern are receiving votes.
The Spartans NCAA tournament fate will be announced during the selection show on Sunday, May 5th. The 2019 NCAA Division II Men’s Lacrosse Championships brackets will be announced the first weekend in May prior to first-round competition
