TAMPA, Fla – The fifth-ranked University of Tampa men’s lacrosse team returns to action tomorrow as they welcome in the Young Harris College Mountain Lions. Tampa enters the game 1-0 as they defeated Queens University of Charlotte last Saturday.   

The Matchup:  No. 5 University of Tampa (1-0) vs. Young Harris College (0-1)

Date/Time: Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 1: 00 p.m. 

Location: Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex || 1120 West North A Street, Tampa, FL 33606

Series History:  Saturday’s game will mark the first time these two programs will meet on the lacrosse field.

About the Spartans: Tampa is entering the matchup with a 1-0 record and ranked as the fifth-best team in the nation. The Spartans would defeat then #14 Queens 14-10 in the season opener. Bryan Wright led the way for UT as the senior scored four goals en route to being named Sunshine State Conference offensive player of the week. Freshman Jack Wood had a strong first game as he racked up five points, scoring two goals and adding three assists in the victory. Scott Phillips led the way for the defense as he caused three turnovers and picked up three groundballs, as he was named SSC defensive player of the week.

About the Mountain Lions:  The Mountain Lions enter the game with a 0-1 record as they dropped their season opener to #16 Lenoir-Rhyne 22-11. The two teams were close early as the Mountain Lions were down one after the first quarter. Lenoir-Rhyne used a strong second quarter, as they outscored Young Harris 7-0 to pull away in the game. The Mountain Lions were led by Thomas Semple who scored four goals in the victory. Andrew Grohovac led the deference as he caused three turnovers. 

Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens, and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
