Shumaker’s Corporate Practice Group Expands With the Addition of Conor T. Burns
TAMPA, FL – Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP is pleased to announce that Conor T. Burns has joined the firm’s Tampa office as an associate in the Corporate practice group. Â
Conor’s practice focuses on securities, commercial transactions, and general corporate law. He has experience in highly-regulated areas such as solar energy and net metering, intellectual property and patent law, and environmental regulation and compliance.
During his final year of law school, Conor served as a judicial extern for both Chief Judge Mark Walker of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida and Justice Ricky Polston of the Supreme Court of Florida. In these roles, Conor gained valuable insight into the judicial process by researching and writing on novel Florida and federal legal issues and discussing those concepts with members of the judiciary. Prior to graduation, Conor worked with energy and environmental regulatory firms in Boston and Tallahassee and he was also a summer associate at Shumaker where he worked with the Corporate practice group.
Conor finished third in his class while obtaining his Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from the Florida State University College of Law. He earned book awards in 10 classes, including, among others, Secured Transactions, Contracts, Closely-Held Business Organizations, and Energy Law and Policy. He also served as a teaching assistant for the College of Law’s Juris Master Program, for which he helped develop courses in Employment Discrimination and Vendor and Third-Party Risk Management.
