Clearwater, Fla. – During the recent RCS Pinellas Annual Board Retreat, three accomplished area leaders from the business community were voted in as members of the organization’s Board of Directors.

Director of Talent Management, Global Functions of Tech Data, Lonnie Brewer; SVP/Chief Nursing Officer of BayCare Health Systems, Lisa Johnson; and Managing Member of Inclusivity, LLC, Erik Smith were appointed to the organization’s board. 

“No matter how noble or important a nonprofit organization’s mission may be, without sound governance, the chance of success is slim to none,” saysKirk Ray Smith, President & CEO of RCS Pinellas. “As matter of fact, the greatest threat to almost any charity, nonprofit or company is poor governance and management oversight. We consider ourselves fortunate and beyond blessed to have such incredible additions to an already amazing Board of Directors. I look forward to their expertise and high-level leadership.”

The role of the RCS Pinellas Board is to oversee and protect the mission of the organization, which serves 130,000 individuals and families living in Pinellas County by providing food, shelter, clothing, counseling, and youth development programs, services and support to those facing hunger, homelessness, and domestic violence.

“As I enter the second and final year of my term as Board Chair, I could not be more impressed and excited about adding these three amazing professionals to our board. Not only are they the best at what they do professionally, they each bring a beautiful balance of passion for our mission and the necessary skill sets to help us drive our strategic plan and deliver on our mission of restoring and providing hope for those in need. RCS Pinellas has provided help & hope to people in need for 50 years. RCS’s mission is to feed the hungry, help families facing homelessness return to self-sufficiency, and empower survivors of domestic violence. Over 130,000 Pinellas County individuals are served annually with dignity to accomplish this mission at the RCS Food Bank, the RCS Grace House, The Haven of RCS, RCS Affordable Housing, RCS Energy Assistance Program, and RCS thrift store partnerships.
